Magnetic Field Effects on Excited States in Molecular Systems

When molecules absorb light, they will be excited to higher energy states known as excited states, which is the fundamental of photochemistry. The interdisciplinary research of photochemistry, physics, materials and biology has encouraged the development of modern technologies including information, energy, display and sensors.

Our goal is to combine the advances in both photochemistry and spin physics. Especially, we are aiming for the design of molecular materials that can respond to magnetic field. In these molecular systems, we can investigate the spin-related properties of excited states, and consequently the magnetic-field-dependent photochemistry processes. Currently we are focusing on the field-enhanced photo-/electro-luminescence as well as the field-controlled (photo-)chemical reactions.
